A moving Jack...

means we can no longer get anything done in his waking hours.  Grad school work- forget about it!   He only started crawling on Feb 2nd, standing that day too.  He has taken 2 solo steps a few times and climbs stairs.  He is a manic on knees.  He stops to make sure you are watching him also.  I ordered his cage, aka play yard,  it will be here on Tuesday.

He is up to 7 teeth, eating Arrowroot cookies, and using sippy cups for formula and water.  He has also begun biting furniture for teething, thankfully I already put the protector on the crib instead of waiting until I noticed it.  I also started child proofing the draws he plays with and outlets.  My kid loves wires.

Just a quick rambling/Jack update.

Week 4 Favorite Things

Week 4:
  1. Favorite (or Dream) Job
  2. Favorite vacation spot
  3. Favorite Book
FAVORITE JOB: Working with kids.  Whether that be while I teach or being a mom, working with kids is my passion.  I mean a supermodel with millions of dollars does sound good too but realistically... teaching it is.

FAVORITE VACATION SPOT:  WARM.  I love Disney and the area surrounding with the beaches and entertainment.  I also loved Bermuda and Horseshoe Bay where I jumped off cliffs.  Going trend is warm with beaches.

FAVORITE BOOK: I have so many favorites.  I love They Cage the Animals at Night which I wrote about in my last blog challenge.  I also love Jennifer Lancaster's books for the past few years I have been trapped inside her life and it's been fun.

GradSchool, Ramblings

I don't know how I am going to get through 6 more classes after this semester.  It is redundant from my undergrad and my newest professor loves to hear herself talk and god forbid you ask her a question,  it must wait until later and by that time you can't remember what you were asking about anyway.  I am looking into new grad schools because also the commute is long and I work up near home now I don't need to be in the Bronx.   My other peeve which I know is going to sound mean but career changers coming back to school, not having a clue about the education system other than being a parent and thinking textbooks are gold compared to real experience.  Can you tell my patience is wearing thin?  If I make it to the end of May before snapping at one of them or the professor it will be amazing.  This is my Monday morning vent.

Week 3 Favorites

Week 3 Prompts:
  • Favorite TV show, or one that is most like your family
  • Favorite Store to Shop at
  • Favorite Recipe
Favorite TV Show:
I started watching this show in 2003 (freshman year of college), when it first aired.  I own every Season on DVD and have watched every season.  Tim will watch some episodes with me, his favorite character Dan is no longer on the show (I swear he liked him because I didn't).  I keep saying I am going to go down to NC with a friend and see the set, I will eventually I promise.

The theme song, by Gavin DeGraw is great too and in college he came to my school to perform.  Before his set he approached my friends and I to borrow a lighter and smoked his cigarette with us while he chatted.  Completely down to Earth. One of my celebrity meetings.

Favorite Store to Shop At:
Target logo.svg
I have stopped my shopping obsession recently but I still go here.  My two favorites are Mt. Kisco and Danbury.  My first 2 years of teaching I would meet my best friend Amy after work at Target in Mt. Kisco for Starbucks and shopping 1-2 times a week, now that I don't have that commute I don't go as much or see her as much both bummers:(
Target is my 1-stop shop for clothes, shoes and baby stuff.  I get Jack's formula there, much of his baby supplies, decorations and toys.   I have the check card so it comes directly from my checking which helps prevent over spending, and saves me 5% every purchase.  I also have it linked to donate money to Brewster High School with every purchase I make.  I have donated a few hundred in the past few years even with the small precent they take from me, I shopped THAT MUCH there.

Favorite Recipe:
Well I do not cook. I make pasta pretty well though.

Boil water
Pour box of Bowties in
Stir
Strain
Add your topping. I like Ragu or Garlic chopped in some oil with salt.
**believe it or not I have screwed this up by turning on the wrong burner and setting my coffee maker on fire** I am that bad.

Week 2 Favorites

Week 2:
  1. Favorite piece of clothing
  2. Favorite Superhero
  3. Favorite Movie
4. Favorite Piece of Clothing:  Other than jeans my robe.  It was my Grandma's robe and she wore it only one time in the months before she passed.  It is pink, fluffy and reminds me of her.  I am usually found it in late at night or on the weekends. Nothing is better than a warm robe that brings back thoughts of a great person.

5. Favorite Superhero: This one is a tough one for me, since I don't really watch Superhero movies or cartoons and never really did growing up.  Do the Ninja Turtles Count?  They stopped crime and wore cool costumes.  I loved them as a kid more then my brother, having birthday parties with their theme for 2 years in a row.

6. Favorite Movie:  LOVE ACTUALLY- Tim and I went on our first date to this Thanksgiving 2003.  In 2005 for Christmas we BOTH bought a copy of the movie for each other, how cute is that.  We watch it during the holidays, we are suckers for Holiday movies.

Favorites WEEK 1

The prompts for this week are:
  1. Favorite Song
  2. Favorite Food
  3. Favorite day of the week
Favorite Song:
This one is a hard one.  I have so many songs that have gotten me through different times.  Linkin Park's song I have youtubed below.  Seventy times Seven by Taking Back Sunday.   Time of Your Life by Green Day is another one I LOVE!  Brings me back to middle school dances every time.

Favorite Food:
Chicken!!  I seriously could eat chicken everyday of the week.  I love chicken in my soup, salads and as a main course.  Tim gets sick of my request for chicken so much though.  Jack's first meat..CHICKEN.

Favorite Day of the Week:
Saturday because 9 times out of 10 I get to sleep in until 10am or later.  Tim usually helps out with Jack and lets me sleep after working a long and busy week.

After Baby Body

I am ALMOST back at pre-pregnancy weight (8.5 months later).  I am happy, I am 139lbs down from 182 when Jack was born though up from 125 where I started before getting the BFP August 2009.  Ideally I need to lose 5 more, since I had said I wanted to keep 10 lbs on to loose the anorexia look I had going according to some.
Big questions:
How do I shrink my butt and hips?
How long do you hold onto your "skinny" clothes before you do give up and donate?
Any other secrets you know to share?
