All Aboard with Thomas at NYBG

Disclosure:  I received these tickets from NYBG in exchange for my review and hosting a ticket contest. All views are my own

The NYBG once again had a fantastic short performance featuring Thomas and Drive Sam.  A short play on a surprise celebration put on by Driver Sam for Thomas.  Although total length was 20 minutes, it was perfectly performed with all the favorite Thomas songs and new ones.  The tickets included full access to the gardens for the day as well as the annual Holiday Train Show.
My son and all the other kids around us were singing and dancing in their seats (parents too..I know I was).  The NYBG had everything organized perfectly, seating was first come first serve in lettered rows for pictures after the show with Thomas.
After the show they called rows up in alphabetically order to line up, get their train conductor certificate and take a picture in stage next to Thomas.  This year pictures were also professionally taken, 48 hours later they were available for free download with an adorable Thomas border on them.  An upgrade for last year when they were self taken.

After the show we went over to the conservatory to see the trains on display, the carvings of NYC buildings and those in surrounding areas were magnificent.  Another addition to the trains on display this year were 3 G-Scaled trains from Thomas and Friends: Thomas, James and Percy.   J was obsessed with watching them, and he was the one who found their displays, which were slightly hidden.  Thomas did have a huge center display in conservatory.

This is a must see next year, plan for visit for early January to attend both shows as Thomas does play during the Holiday Train Show's last weeks and continues even after Train Show is over through end of January and the dates do sell out fast.

LaborDay Mamarazzi Event

Last week I was invited to attend a preview screening of Paramount's new movie Labor Day with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin by TheMoms.  An "unexpected love story" that takes places in 1987, based on author's Joyce Maynard book Labor Day.

Henry, the son in the movie was great (played by Gattlin Griffith), one of my favorite characters.  His portrayal of a teen boy going through his own emotional development while living with his mom and help carrying for her too was fantastic.  He would have done anything for his mother and he did. The bond of mother-son was especially inspiring.

Kate Winslet's portrayal of Adele, a divorcee with emotional baggage was captivating.  You wondered what happened to make her become helpless mom she had become.  Previews show the movie as a love story, it was but I would consider it a darker one.  The suspense and flash backs of character Frank (Josh Brolin) and why he was on the run, did leave you wanting to know more from the beginning until the closure was given.

I enjoyed the movie, and was completely choked up at the end.
Watch the trailer and make sure to see it in theaters starting January 31st.

A Night Out: Mamarazzi with The Moms, Melissa Gilbert and AriZonaBeverages

Wednesday night Christine and I headed into the city with fellow mommy bloggers to celebrate NYT Best Selling author Melissa Gilbert's new children's book Daisy and Josephine with The Moms (Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein).

AriZona provided drinks and information on their new kids drinks and SkinnyGirl Sparklers for the moms.  I have been an AriZona fan for as long as I can remember, I drank tons of the Arnold Palmers while pregnant, they were my go to drink.  They also have launched water enhancers, great for on the go.  I came home with a Fruit Punch one and will be purchasing it again.  I love these for the kids, i can give them just a squirt of flavor without over doing it and still getting  tons of water.  "Pink water" as the kids call it, is a popular drink at home.   Just the kids bottles alone were adorable, small, compact ad easy to fit in bags and cup holders, and great tasting too.  AriZona also shared with us their new line of SkinnyGirl Sparklers by Bethenny Frankel, just as delicious.

AriZona Products
Daisy an Josephine, is a sweet story about a little girl who overcomes shyness while spending time with her dad and her little dog Josephine.  Melissa's dog Josephine is a French Bulldog who also greeted us Wednesday night.  My kids woke us up Thursday morning after finding the book on our coffee table asking us to read it, an instant favorite and placed immediately in our reading rotation.  The illustrator Julia Kuo does a wonderful job on the drawings throughout the story.  This story is great for preschool age and up!

Restaurant Rave: For those looking for a family friendly place to eat in NYC/Time Square be sure to check out Buca di Beppo a warm and cozy Italian Resturant located on 45th & Broadway, (between Toys R Us and The Disney Store for some shopping too!) for lunch and dinner opening at 11am, 7 days a week.

Craft time with Kiwi Crate

Crafts delivered to your door..

We started receiving KiwiCrate's about 3 months ago, and I am glad we joined.  I love that the materials come separated for each craft and the instruction book includes pictures for the kids to "read" to see what comes next.  There is an extra booklet to learn more about whatever craft we just worked on: information on the animal, how to do it a different way, even the box becomes another art project.   What is more exciting than that?
Glow Worm

We do the monthly subscription/monthly billed, but there are other options.  They also have add ins for the boxes, single craft boxes and even party favors you can buy.  We still play with our octopus dancers on the door and fly our fire fly across the room, our glowworm sits under the light during the day to glow their dark room at night until the kids are asleep.  Online you also have the options of buying single crates and mini crates too, great ideas for gifts or prizes for your child.

By subscribing to their list, you also receive great emails with ideas for crafts you can do at home from their blog, 10 Indoor Winter Snow and Ice Activities for Kids was their last.  Kiwi Crate's pinterest page is also full of ideas to do with your kids.

You can check them out HERE and get $10 off your first box. (My referral link)

All opinions are my own, this was not sponsored but wanted to just share with my friends!!
