Heroes of the City **Review**

We were asked to review a new app with trucks, cars, animals and many other vehicles.  Immediately thinking of J and his train obsession and ability to use an iTouch I said yes.  I was given the full app for free.  Prior letting J try (and C of course had to have it also on her device) I tried playing it.  My favorites: the Build a Rail Road and Jump! Swerve! Drive! games, as non video game person, I have been finding me playing these a lot when I have time.
Build a RailRoad
Another part of the APP and games I LOVED.. after they complete a game/puzzle/level a screen pops up with music and a fun animation congratulating them on completing.  J dances and yells "I did it" every time it comes on,   I love the self-esteem boost it give them.  At the ages of 2.5 and 3.5 I am pretty impressed with how quick and how many levels my two kids can get to alone.  The joy and excitement on their faces just precious.

The Swedish company Ruta Ett sent us the full app to try out, DVD, book and 2 die-cast vehicles for the kids.  The app comes with many movies roughly 10 minutes or longer, the games range from: memory, car racing, puzzles, paint, building things, and putting out fires.  Calamity Crow is a fun bird your kids will enjoy, he appears in the app, book, DVD, and games.  My kids think he is funny in all the upside down messes he gets himself in and out of.  Heroes of the City DVDs are also available on Amazon and some US stores and launching later this year the books will be available also.
"Heroes of the City is a television cartoon about rescue vehicles in a small town where everyone can be a hero!
Follow the fantastically exciting adventures along with friends in town.  Meet Paulie Police Car and Fiona Fire Engine as they help the townspeople find thieves, put out fires, and solve one of the many mysteries that happen in the otherwise quiet town. You will also get to know Calamity Crow, the most unlucky bird in town.
Emphasizing friendship, Heroes of the City contains a great deal of warmth and what may be accomplished by helping each other. The cartoon is primarily targeted at children age 3 – 7."
